Wagnerkapelle

Description

In the Gänsleit fraction, the two old farms at the "Wagner" and at the "Schneider" are well known, where the Reichsstraße passed by until 1915 and where the small chapel with the image of the chrismated Saviour invited to prayer. A "hostage" of old, however, was the regular flood disasters caused by the Stampfangerbach, which flowed by nearby.

The master carpenters often had no choice but to open the doors on the south and north sides so that the flash flood would not enter the living quarters but flow into the street. As a reminder of modest defence measures, the local residents piled up the washed-up stones of considerable size on both sides of the chapel in order to divert the raging waters halfway. Because the chapel was mainly looked after and cared for by the local Embacher family of the "Wagner", the significant name "Wagner Chapel" became established in early times.
