Attraction St Anthony's Chapel

Wildschönau - Oberau

A small gem.

Description

The Antonius Chapel in Oberau is a beautiful baroque building, constructed between 1706 and 1708 to replace an older chapel. The octagonal central structure was designed by master mason Hans Hueber and is inspired by a chapel in St. Johann in Tirol.

The ornate high altar features a grace image, carried by two angels. Particularly noteworthy are the frescoes in the dome, depicting scenes from the life of Saint Anthony. The chapel is located about 200 meters from the parish church and is a true highlight for visitors.
