Attraction Rinn

Rinn/Judenstein

Rinn

Description

An idyllic country village to the southeast of Innsbruck: Rinn lies at the foot of Patscherkofel mountain and was home to a famous freedom fighter from the 19th century. Andreas Hofer's "right hand man", Josef Speckbacher, called this place home. A lesser-known female freedom fighter also comes from Rinn: a farmer's maid called Katharina Lanz who fought against Napoleonic troops at the end of the 18th century. The origin of the name Rinn probably comes from the Rhaeto-Romanic word "Run", meaning clearing site. The village was first mentioned as "Runne" in the 13th century.
