Ramsau im Zillertal

Ramsauer Kirchl - Maria 7 Schmerzen

Description

The construction of the small church, which is visible from afar, was started in 1841 and could be consecrated already in 1843. The high altar is decorated with a picture of the “Sorrowful Mother of God”. The Ramsauer Church, which was renovated and restored in 1996/97, now shines again in full splendour. Our Archbishop solemnly reopened it on April 20, 1997. Ramsau is the home of Blessed Engelbert Kolland, who died in Damascus on 10 July 1860 at the age of 33 as a blood witness for Christ. He was beatified on 10 October 1926 and has been the second patron of our parish community Zell am Ziller since 15 August 1986.
