From Matrei railway station, head north through the village and up at the "Waldrast" turn-off at the end of the village. Follow the road for a few metres to the "Waldrast" car park at Mützens. A forest road winds its way up through the spruce forests to the highest monastery in the Eastern Alps. The five-kilometre trail leads along the Stations of the Cross in about 1.5 hours, first to the Ochsenalm in front of the monastery. There, branch off into the Matreier Grube and follow the Creation Path, which leads through the small side valley via the power place to the monastery.
