Attraction pilgrim church "Maria Brettfall"

Strass im Zillertal

Pilgrimage church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin MaryThe church lies on a rock high above the entrance of the Zillertal. The name "Brettfall" could have originated on the one hand from the Latin "super vallem" (above the valley), on the other hand from the Latin words "prae vallum" (in front of the rampart). Both interpretations date back to Roman times. The Lourdes grotto, which has been embedded in the rock behind the church for many years, was renovated in 1980.More about history, art, legends and stories about the hermits on Maria Brettfall can be found in the guide "Pilgrimage Church Maria Brettfall".
