Attraction Parish St. Lambert and St. Leonhard

Gerlos, Zillertal

The church is first documented in 1470. It was built in the years 1730 to 1735 according to plans by Hans Holzmeister. In 1891 it was elevated to parish.

Description

The church is a baroque hall building with the north tower, which is crowned by an onion dome. A fresco of St. Leonhard is located on the outside as a saint of cattle with a view of Gerlos in the 18th century. The four-bay nave is barrel vaulted with lunettes. The vault rests on flat pilasters. The two-bay choir is closed in a semicircle.
