Tux/Hintertux im Zillertal

"Zirbe" the smell of the mountains.

Description

This noble tree species has been native to the Alpine region since the last ice age and people have been making use of its positive properties ever since. Due to its adaptability and its occurrence in the high Alpine region, the Swiss stone pine is considered the “Queen of the Alps”. It is widespread in the western inner Alps at 1,400 to approx. 2,500 meters above sea level. On average, the Swiss stone pine lives to be 200 to 400 years old. Normally, the Swiss stone pine grows to a height of around 25 meters, but this also depends on the location! Swiss stone pine wood has a yellow-reddish core and a narrow yellowish sapwood! It is soft, light, durable and easy to work with. The dark knots create a particularly beautiful pattern. Freshly cut stone pine wood retains its characteristic scent for decades. Swiss stone pine wood has positive effects on circulation, sleep and well-being, which is why Swiss stone pine parlors and Swiss stone pine rooms are very popular nowadays!
