Innsbruck - the city between the mountains.
Onion domes, historic house facades and all around the mountains of the rugged Karwendelgebirge and the high peaks of the Tuxer Alps. This is Innsbruck. On the way to the south to Italy, millions pass the beautiful city in the Alps. Nevertheless, every year millions of visitors come to the exciting city. The old town in Innsbruck is not only the center of Tyrol, with the seat of government, but a very beautiful sight.
Golden Roof
Maximilian I. had the magnificent bay window and its roof built. It is decorated with 2,657 fire-gilt copper shingles. In the Golden Roof Museum, visitors can learn everything about the history of this unique building and the era of Emperor Maximilian I. The latest technologies such as sound installations and touchscreens convey impressions of the late medieval Tyrol.
Children can set off on an exciting journey through time with the jester Kunz von der Rosen. Creative stations and historical garments arouse curiosity about the Middle Ages. And don't forget to take an "imperial view" of the old town from the pompous dungeon!
