Attraction Museum near the church

Open today
Fügen, Zillertal

The museum in the Widumspfiste, which is run by the Heimat- und Museumsverein, documents the history of the Zillertal singer families and the related spread of the song "Silent Night" all over the world. On the basis of pictures, music books, exhibits and documents one can understand the journeys of the singers into the world. For Christmas 2018 the song has been heard for 200 years. It is sung today in 250 languages and dialects! The equipment and objects of old crafts such as Federkielsticker, carpenters, locksmiths, monastic works, Fassbinder, Wagner, hatters or Seiler can be seen. We show a "Mozart organ" from Hall i. T. and explain the story about it. One room is dedicated to the> Tux-Zillertal Cattle Breed <, which was considered extinct around 1970 and is now being successfully bred by the farmers. In 2004, the large exhibition Mining and Metallurgy was added to the newly built basement.
