Attraction "Lustiger Friedhof" Humorous Graveless Cemetery

Kramsach

"Here Johanna Vogelsang is silent, she twittered all her life." That's how bizarre, funny and even crude the epitaphs and mottoes are that blacksmith Hans Guggenberger has collected over decades of collecting in North Tyrol, South Tyrol, Salzburg and Bavaria for the museum cemetery in Kramsach. Laughter is definitely allowed in this cemetery!

We recommend because

  • unique collection of bizarre and funny epitaphs
  • funny farewell words that make you smile, laugh and think
  • Grave crosses from five centuries

Description

A cemetery without the dead?

In this "cemetery without the dead", visitors can reflect on the conciliatory nature of becoming and passing away - with a smile or a liberating laugh. Over 100 grave crosses from five centuries, some with curious inscriptions, can be found at the Tyrol Museum Cemetery in Kramsach. However, no one is buried here. The crosses come from the collection of master stonemason and sagzahnschmied Hans Guggenberger.

After decades of collecting in North Tyrol, South Tyrol, Salzburg and Bavaria by the master generations of Guggenberger - Sagzahn Kunstschmiede - this museum cemetery was painstakingly created in 1965 and has been continuously expanded ever since.

In addition to jewels of time-honored blacksmith art from five centuries, the curious part of the museum contains historically documented martyrological and funerary sayings with heartfelt wisdom as testimony to the original folk humor in the Alpine country.

In this "cemetery without the dead", visitors can marvel at ancient craftsmanship and reflect on the reconciliation of becoming and passing away - while smiling and laughing.

The world's most monumental dance of death cycle, a world peace cross, the world peace bells and a meditation grotto characterize this unique open-air museum.

The museum can be reached by Regiobus 603 - bus stop: Hagau Einberger

Entrance fee: conservation fee € 4.00/per person.
