Attraction Holzbildstock am "Gstoag"

Reith bei Seefeld

The oldest wayside shrine from the year 1611.

Description

At the apex of the main road between Auland and the Wildsee stands a peculiar larch post with a cross. It is the oldest wayside shrine far and wide, because the year 1611 is carved into the weathered pillar. It is supposed to commemorate the lucky finding of a child. During the "Ströb rechnen" parents had a little boy with them and suddenly could no longer find him. Desperately they searched the whole area. There was a large pile of rubble at this spot. The child crawled into it and fell asleep.
