Blasius or Fourteen Nothelfe Chapel, Weiler Paznaun

Description

The old Blasius Chapel (1675) was destroyed by a flood. In 1765, a new chapel building was erected in the regional building tradition and a 14-Nothelfer altar (1740) was brought here. An older, former altarpiece (1680; from the Blasius Chapel) hangs on the entrance wall. It shows the 14 helpers in need, traditionally 3 female and 11 male, in the form of a tree of life and also shows their names. The statue of Mary with the Child Jesus (18th century) could, according to its type, have been a pilgrimage destination in the past.
