Based in the village of Serfaus on a plateau high above the valley floor, the clothing designer and manufacturer polychromeLab knows a thing or two about warm summers and cold Alpine winters and has used this knowledge to design a jacket designed to look great and adapt to the weather.
With its cool, clean lines and minimalistic design, polychromeLab jackets are very much a case of "less is more". Yet, unlike other jackets, they are not just fashion items which will leave you cold in winter and hot in summer. Instead, this hybrid apparell succeeds in adapting to the weather conditions, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer.
Cool all-rounder
Sounds impossible? Think again. The secret lies in the special laminated material which enables the reversible jacket to absorb a large proportion of the sun's UV rays and thereby control the climate inside the jacket depending on what the weather is like. Each jacket is 100% windproof and waterproof and weighs just a few hundred grammes.
Inventors Elisabeth Frey and Michele Stinco have even built their own laboratory at 2,500m above sea level on the Schönjoch ridge in Serfaus in order to test and further develop the jackets, which are available to purchase online and in a shop in the centre Serfaus. Potential customers are encouraged to not only try on the jacket but also go outside, walk around and experience for themselves the incredible climate control function.
