Cross-country skiing in Tirol

From the traditional Classic technique to the more modern and dynamic Skating, cross-country skiing is one of the best ways to experience winter in Tirol. The region offers a huge network of well-maintained trails inviting experts and beginners alike to explore the alpine wilderness at their own pace.

Cross-country skiing is one of the healthiest sports out there. Stress on the joints is kept to a minimum, but the dynamic movements demanded by this sport make it excellent training for all the main muscle groups as well as the cardiovascular system. Tirol's cross-country skiing trails offer perfect conditions for skiers of all abilities, from total novices to seasoned pros. Most cross-country skiing areas are open from December, while some of the high-altitude ones such as Obertilliach in East Tirol (very popular with pro skiers keen to get in some early-season training) welcome skiers even from November. These high-altitude locations guarantee fine conditions on the trails well into spring.
